Where did Cassandra's gun go in the first book "Unforeseen Circumstances"?

Are you wondering where the gun that Cassandra carried in her back waistband went to the day that they were boarded by the Coast Guard?

You remember the scene. She was staring down the modern day pirate, Jason. Seth was standing there with a gun pointed at him. Cassandra had the gun in her waistband, contemplating whether to shoot Jason or not. She worried if she missed then it might the one mistake she could never live with. She chose to run at Jason, knock the gun out of  his hand, and hopefully allow time for Seth to make a move. The gun went off, and Cassandra fell to the deck . . .

Okay, so I've refreshed your memory I hope. Here's what happened to the gun.

As Cassandra landed on the deck, the gun fell out of her waistband, skidding away from reach. As one of the Navy Seals retrieved the gun that was pushed out of Jason's hand, another retrieved the gun that fell from Cassandra's waistband. Interestingly enough it was later given to Jay, the Coast Guardsman that interviewed Cassandra aboard the Coast Guard cutter.

Now if you haven't read all of book one, I warn you not to read on.

Jay reviewed the weapons seized that day with the crew on board the mega-yacht. It was identified as belonging to Seth and thus was returned to him much later.

So mystery solved. This is the reason Seth still has his gun in book two, "Compromises".

Things you wanted to know about "Unforeseen Circumstances"

Most people are curious about the items that prompted to the story of "Unforeseen Circumstances". Well, let's start with the inspiration. I live on a boat and have met many a crew on those beautiful mega-yachts that travel through on their way to the Caribbean. I often felt that if I was an owner of one of those beautiful things, I would want to be on it, traveling from location to location. The crew are the lucky ones! That's their job. They get to travel on board a beautiful yacht to beautiful locations. Could you imagine a more perfect job? Okay, so maybe they have to cook, clean, and whatever else the owners want from them while aboard, but for the most part, they are living the life and making the money doing it. So I wanted my crew in this story to reflect that life. I can't tell you much more than that, or I'd be giving away one of the biggest secrets of the book-- you will have to read it to find out why!
